Women transfer near as a third seven-figure deal moves complete

London City Lionesses have completed the signing of Grace Geyoro from Paris Saint-Germain for a deal thought to be around £1million.

The France international joined the newly-promoted Women's Super League side just before Thursday's 11pm deadline.

London City confirmed the news on social media on Friday morning, adding it is subject to the completion of the regulatory processes.

Geyoro's arrival in the capital makes her the third seven-figure transfer of this WSL window, with Olivia Smith's move from Liverpool to Arsenal also breaking the £1m mark and Chelsea also making a big move for Alyssa Thompson from Angel City on deadline day.

In January, USWNT defender Naomi Girma joined Chelsea from San Diego Wave in a deal worth around £900,000 ($1.1m), setting a new record at the time.

This figure was then beaten when Smith joined the Gunners in July, before Lizbeth Cole moved to Orlando Pride from Tigres UANL for £1.1m last month.

The signing of Geyoro might not be a world record, as confirmed to us by London City Lionesses CEO Martin Semmens live on talkSPORT, but it is another major statement of intent from the WSL newcomers.

Semmens said: "I think people are beginning to really see the value of the league and the value of the game and it comes down to you whether you want to invest in your team or not.

"So our viewpoint is the market is going to grow. no one can argue with that. The question is how fast and how far. The earlier you can invest, the earlier you can move, the better it's going to be.

"I think at some point we'll be sitting in this room talking about players that are worth four, or five, or six million.

"So I think teams like us want to invest now while the market is reasonable and therefore I think that has driven the market up during this window."

Geyoro has earned 103 caps for France and had spent her entire career at PSG after coming through their academy.

She made a total of 273 appearances for the Parisians, scoring 53 goals, helping them to league glory in 2021.

Geyoro is regarded as one of the most exciting midfielders in Europe and started three of France's four matches at Euro 2025, scoring twice as they reached the quarter-finals.

PSG made sure to recognise her contributions for the club, as they confirmed the star's exit in a statement.

The French side wrote: “Paris Saint-Germain salutes Grace Geyoro’s exemplary career with the club.
