The UEFA Conference League stands as Europe's tertiary men's club competition.
Will There Be Any New Changes to the Conference League?
The Conference League operates under UEFA's modernized 36-Team Single League Phase format:
36-Team Single Table: The traditional 32-team group stage was permanently replaced. All 36 qualified clubs now compete in one primary league table.
6 Unique Matches: Unlike the Champions League and Europa League (where clubs play 8 matches in the league phase), Conference League teams play 6 matches against 6 different opponents (3 at home, 3 away).
No Drop-Downs from Europa League: Once the league phase begins, clubs eliminated from the Europa League no longer enter the Conference League knockout rounds.
Knockout Qualification Pathway:
1st – 8th Place: Automatically qualify for the Round of 16.
9th – 24th Place: Enter a two-legged knockout play-off round to fight for the remaining 8 spots in the Round of 16.
25th – 36th Place: Eliminated entirely from European competition.
Destination Final: The 2026/27 Conference League Final will be held on June 2, 2027, at Beşiktaş Park in Istanbul, Turkey.
What Is the New Conference League Ball for 2026/27?
Decathlon, under its performance football brand Kipsta, manufactures the official match ball for the 2026/27 UEFA Conference League:
Visual Concept & Colorway: Built around a crisp white core layered with dark structural bands that symbolize the "road to the final".
Thermally Bonded Construction: Uses a seamless 12-panel thermobonded design to minimize water absorption and deliver consistent flight stability.
FIFA Quality Pro Certified: Fully tested for official match play with a textured microfiber surface to give goalkeepers and field players maximum grip and touch.
UEFA Conference League Opening Ceremony & Matchday 1
Unlike the single-match entertainment shows reserved for May finals, the Conference League kickoff features synchronized opening rituals across all 18 host venues on Matchday 1:
Official Anthem: The custom UEFA Conference League anthem plays live as players line up before kickoff.
Mid-field Unfurling: Center-circle tarps displaying the official tournament branding are displayed during pre-match build-up across every venue.
Schedule: Following the August play-off round, the 2026/27 Conference League phase officially kicks off on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
