Camila Zamorano recently became boxing's current youngest world title holder just shy of her 18th birthday.
The teenager won the interim WBC atomweight belt with a points win over Japan's Mika Iwakawa in June and was upgraded to full world champion on October 15 following the retirement of her predecessor, Tina Rupprecht of Germany.
On Saturday night, while the boxing world watched on in awe as Fabio Wardley stunned Joseph Parker at London's O2 Arena, Zamorano (13-0) defended her 102lbs world title in her home town of Hermosillo, Mexico.
A capacity crowd packed into the Arena Sonora to witness the precocious talent in the flesh.
Her opponent, Sana Hazuki (13-12-1) of Japan, was 24 years her senior at 41 and had double the amount of fights.
Yet she proved no match for the fleet-footed youngster.
Zamorano rocked Hazuki in the opening 20 seconds with a blistering combination, and from there, the travelling fighter's fate was sealed.
The brave Japanese woman never stopped marching forward, but she was unable to put a dent in her foe.
In the end, Zamorano won a shutout, unanimous decision victory with a punch-perfect display.
All three judges gave her the nod via wide margins of 100-90.
Hazuki unsuccessfully challenged twice for the IBF atomweight strap against reigning WBC minimumweight champion Yokasta Valle in 2021 and 2022.
She lost both encounters in a similar manner to the way in which she was overcome by the excellent Zamorano.
Zamorano, who began honing her craft at 11 years old under the watchful eye of her father and coach Eleazar, compiled a stellar 53-4 record in the unpaid ranks.
As an amateur, she won several state and regional titles before turning over as a professional at 15.
Is Camila Zamorano the youngest world champion of all time?
Zamorano is the youngest female world champion of all time at 17 years and 293 days old.
However, she is second overall behind Wilfred Benitez.
The Puerto Rican superstar won the WBA and lineal super lightweight titles from Antonio Cervantes in March 1976, when he was 17 years and 176 days old.
Zamorano does, however, join Benitez as the only 17-year-olds to ever hold world titles in boxing - a truly remarkable achievement.
