Birmingham City have officially secured the signature of 29-year-old goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley on a free transfer following the conclusion of her contract at Brighton & Hove Albion.
The move marks a dramatic homecoming for the English shot-stopper, who began her senior career in the West Midlands over a decade ago. As Blues continue to bolster their squad with proven top-flight talent, Baggaley brings a wealth of experience across the Barclays Women's Super League (WSL), previous spells at Manchester United and Bristol City, and extensive caps across England youth levels.
Baggaley Speaks on Returning Home
Speaking following the official announcement, Baggaley revealed that the club's trajectory and heavy investment into the women's setup made returning an easy decision:
"When you start your career somewhere, you always have a soft spot for it. Birmingham helped build the foundations for my career and hopefully now I can give a little bit back. The club has been through so many different stages over the last few years, but it's clear how much Birmingham has invested in the women's team and I'm really excited to be part of that."
