Chloe Kelly got revenge on Manchester City as she scored against her former club and celebrated in front of their fans - but it was short-lived.
Kelly, who was involved in a controversial transfer saga at the start of the year, found the net in Arsenal's 3-2 defeat to Man City.
Kelly, who was involved in a controversial transfer saga at the start of the year, found the net in Arsenal's 3-2 defeat to Man City.
The Lionesses superstar received a lay-off on the edge of the box, before taking one touch and firing a shot at goal.
And she perfectly picked out the top corner, equalising for the Gunners with just eight minutes to go in the WSL blockbuster.
Sadly for her, City would claim a late winner, but she still managed to get one back over her old side.
After scoring, Kelly pointed at her Arsenal badge, slamming her chest and screaming in celebration.
She then cupped her ear towards fans after receiving some boos from the stands during the game.
Kelly and Man City's relationship came to a frosty end in January as the forward released a shock statement on her treatment by the club as she pleaded for a move away.
The 27-year-old, who had seen her game time limited, posted a long message claiming that her mental health was being affected by City controlling which team she could join.
Her agent, Michael Jarman, even told talkSPORT that he believed the club were planting stories about her in the media.
Fortunately, Kelly did get her move and ended up at Arsenal on loan, before going on to sign permanently in July.
And now, in her first match against Man City since her departure, she has managed to get her own back.
Kelly's transfer statement
Kelly was forced to release a statement to try and get her move away from Man City, with the club accused of 'assassinating her character'.
Her statement in January read: “So disappointed to find out tonight that people at the club are briefing journalists against me if I am to sign at a club before the window shuts.
“They've called reporters to assassinate my character and tried to plant negative stories about me in the football media, which are false accusations.
“Women should look after each other and build each other up... not shoot them down to protect their employers.
"To those responsible, I am disappointed in this.
“As stated in my previous statement, I just want to find happiness again.”
Life at Arsenal
Since joining Arsenal on loan, Kelly has made 17 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Her goal against Man City was her fourth in total and the second since her move was made permanent.
She also became a Champions League winner with the Gunners, starting in their 1-0 final win over Barcelona.
That success, alongside Kelly also scoring the winning penalty for England in the Women's Euro 2024 final, saw her rank highly in the Ballon d'Or awards.
Kelly came fifth in the women's Ballon d'or, which was won by Spanish superstar Aitana Bonmati for the third straight year.
